Mark Featherstone is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Keele University, UK. His areas of specialism are social and political thought and psychoanalysis. His current research focuses on notions of utopia and dystopia in social and political thought and he has published a monograph on this topic titled Tocqueville's Virus: Utopia and Dystopia in Western Social and Political Thought (Routledge, 2013). He is currently working on the second volume of this study, titled Planet Utopia: Utopia, Dystopia, and Globalisation, which will be published by Routledge in 2014. A third volume of this work will follow soon afterwards. He also writes on violence in culture and will publish a book on this area titled Carnographic Cultures late next year.
