Julian Jonker

Julian Jonker is a PhD student in the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, where he works in political philosophy, ethics, and the foundations of economics. Before this, he worked on the District Six Museum's public education program, wrote an MPhil dissertation about the slave burial grounds of Cape Town and the ethical significance of silence, and lectured in law at the University of Cape Town. During much of his time in Cape Town, he performed and produced sound art and DJ mixes under the alter-ego liberation chabalala, was a member of the DJ collective Fong Kind Bantu Sound System, and wrote about culture and sound for South African newspapers and journals.
